Adapter indicator light not on? Official troubleshooting guide

2025-11-04

When your power adapter light does not light up, it usually means that it is not powering up or working properly. Do not disassemble the adapter by yourself, and follow the following systematic steps from simple to complex to troubleshoot to determine the root cause of the problem.

Step 1: Check the power supply (make sure the power is delivered)

This is the most common and overlooked link.

  1. Confirm that the socket is powered: Plug other working small appliances (such as desk lamps, mobile phone chargers) into the socket and confirm whether the socket itself has power.

  2. Check if the plug is tightly plugged: Make sure the adapter's power plug is in full contact with the wall outlet or power strip and is not loose.

  3. Troubleshoot power strip problems: If you are using a power strip, check whether the main switch of the power strip is on and whether the power strip itself is working properly. Try bypassing the power strip and plugging the adapter directly into the wall outlet.

Step 2: Check the adapter itself (preliminary judgment of adapter status)

  1. Observe the appearance: Carefully inspect the adapter housing for visible burning marks, cracks, or deformation, and smell for a burning smell. If you have any of them, stop using them immediately and contact the after-sales service, as this may be a sign of damaged internal components.

  2. Check the cable: Gently pinch the adapter's input and output cables, especially at the joints and bends, to see if the light will briefly illuminate at a specific angle. If so, the internal cable may be broken.

  3. Try using electricity in a different place: Take the adapter to an outlet in another known normal room or location to test it to troubleshoot specific circuit issues.

Step 3: Check the connection with the device (exclude external factors)

After confirming that the power supply is correct, the problem may be on the connection or on the device side.

  1. Confirm Secure Connection: Ensure that the adapter's output (DC round port or USB-C port) is tightly connected to your device and not loose.

  2. Disconnect the device test: Unplug the adapter from the device, only connect to the power source. Observe if the indicator light is on.

    • If the light is on: The adapter is mostly normal, and the problem may be with the charging port on the device, the device battery, or the internal circuitry. Please try charging your device with a different adapter that has been confirmed to be working for further judgment.

    • If the indicator light still does not turn on, the fault is most likely in the adapter itself or the power cord.

Step 4: Cross-validate (lock down the source of the problem)

This is the most effective way to determine the point of failure.

  1. Find an alternative adapter: If conditions permit, find a normal adapter with the same or compatible parameters (special note: the voltage must be consistent and the current can be equal to or greater than the original configuration) to charge your device.

    • Device can be charged: It is basically determined that the original adapter is faulty.

    • The device still won't charge: The problem is most likely with your device itself, and it is recommended to contact the after-sales service of the device.

  2. Check the removable power cord: If your adapter input is a detachable figure-of-eight cable or torx cord, try replacing it with a normal power cord of the same type to see if the cable is damaged.

Troubleshooting flow chart: at a glance

The adapter indicator light does not light
up ↓
Step 1: Check whether the power supply → socket is powered? Is the plug plugged in tightly? → No → Solve the power problem
↓ Yes
Step 2: Check the adapter → Is there any cauterization, deformation, or odor? Are the cables intact? → Yes → Deactivate immediately, contact after-sales
↓ No
Step 3: Disconnect the device → Only connect to the power supply, is the indicator light on? → Yes → The problem may be on the device
side ↓ No
Step 4: Cross-verify → Change the compatible adapter, can the device charge? → Can → Determine the fault of the adapter
↓ No
the problem may be on the device side, it is recommended to contact the equipment after-sales service

Safety tips and recommendations

  • Do not repair by yourself: There is a high-voltage capacitor inside the power adapter, even if the power is lost, there may be a charge, and there is a risk of electric shock when disassembled by unprofessionals.

  • Use original or certified accessories: Using low-quality or incompatible third-party adapters can cause damage to the device and even pose safety hazards.

  • Timely replacement: Once it is confirmed that the adapter is faulty, replace the original or officially certified accessories as soon as possible to ensure the stable operation and safe use of the equipment.

If the adapter itself is faulty after the above steps, please contact us through official channels for further after-sales support or replacement services.
